Illegal immigration is costing this country more than the so called drug wars. 1) If there was a job available for you and it was the only job that was available or put into a different perspective it only paid $7.00 an hour, would you take that job or would you forego it in hopes of "Finding something" better? Well, the Illegal immigrant isn't asking that question, he or she is asking when can I start. That creates the "aire" that Americans are too lazy in wanting to find work. It's a J. O. B., take the damn thing then worry about finding something better. 2) Does anyone really know the total cost of paying for the education, healthcare, welfare, housing, etc? The absolute total cost of illegal immigration not in years, but in months, weeks, DAYS even? No one knows and no one will ever know, because no one is allowed to ask immigration status. That needs to change, immigration reform will not help alleviate our current situation, because then and only then it be "legal" and we would also encourage others to do the same, with the same results.
We have current legislation already in place which needs updating, granted, but it would put us back on the path that we were 25 years ago. Allowing non-US citizens the right to vote is the same as letting Hugo Chavez dictate how this country is run, non citizens should not have the right to vote in this country.
